SPECTRUM is Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community Space. Our vision is of an inclusive community where all 2SLGBTQ+ individuals are welcomed, celebrated, and supported as their authentic selves. SPECTRUM Prime (for ages 50+) meets from 7-9 pm on the first and third Wednesday of each month. As maturing members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, we gather together to create a welcoming environment where we can reduce isolation and expand our network of friends. Please join us for a casual discussion and social group for maturing adults.
The organization is seeking volunteers to co-host SPECTRUM Prime. These volunteers need to have social and group facilitation skills, and display empathy and sensitivity. Their responsibilities will include welcoming and introducing visitors, informing them about SPECTRUM resources when appropriate, and guiding discussions. Ideal candidates should be aged 50 or above and identify as 2SLGBTQ+. They should also have a genuine interest in others' stories, demonstrate emotional intelligence and regulation, be able to create an inclusive and comfortable space, and possess strong active listening skills, being comfortable with listening more than speaking.
